Okay, so another update on the ever evolving 300 Zed.
Mechanical:
First off I just replaced the rear brake pads. The indicators were damn near scoring my rotors, so I also resurfaced them while I was at it. You may be asking yourself, "Now why does -TheFaces have a brake resurfaces just sitting around his appartment?" Well... I don't. I DO however have very good standing with my autoshop teacher from highschool, and he let me use the school's machine to turn my rotors.
Upon inspection of the underside of the car while I had it there on the lift I noticed that I have a MASSIVE fucking oil leak, and probably need my oil pan gasket replaced. This explains my lack of compression, and hopefully I will kill two birds with one stone there. I had noticed some oil spots on the ground in my parking space, but nothing that would notate this sort of leak. It's like a golden brown niagra falls.
Now guess what the worst part about it is. All of this oil is leaking RIGHT ONTO MY ALTERNATOR!!! WHOOOOOO!!!
So until I can get this fixed I'm carrying a fire extinguisher with me in the car.
Visually:
I have painted all of the gray trim along the bottom of my car, and the two gray bumper tits on the rear bumper flat black. This has made the car look all of about ten years newer, and i'm happy with it.
I also replaced a few bulbs here, and there that I didn't actually need, but I was at the junkyard anyways, and easily pocketed them, so... Why Not????
Now... why was the real reason I was at the junkyard? I had received a tip that there was a 1984 300Zx Turbo out there, that I may be able to harvest the turbo and exhaust manifolds from. Well it turns out that the turbo was garbage, and looked like it had a pretty good oil leak, so I threw it on the ground, and left it there. However all was not lost as I noticed that it had a perfectly good stock spoiler on it.
So about two hours, one skinned knuckle, and a few extra holes in my hatch later, I now have an OEM Nissan spoiler off of an 84 Turbo.
